Hey Beautiful People! I had ‘Garden Song’ by David Mallet running through my head like crazy while drawing this….wanted to post the lyrics to his whole song but no one is quite sure what the lyric’s are! There are sooo many different versions on google it’s exhausting. I have a version in my head running on a loop that I think is Pete Seegar’s…but anyway…talk about planting seeds! Beautiful David Mallet planted this song and it grew gorgeous flowers of all sorts!!! Huge hugs all around!

P.S. Ishita’s is the first comment I read and she said she was going to listen to the song…thought I should post it (had planned to but laziness won the day! 😅) Anyway…YAY! I found the version of Pete Seeger singing it that I’ve known my whole life! And this wonderful video shows the original lyrics written out with the changes Pete made written in red under each line. SO cool! Here it is:

Those of You who have been my friends for a while may vaguely remember this painting. I used to call it ‘coming to win us’ (a tribute to Cat Steven’s song ‘Longer Boats’. It was MUCH simpler/different back then! Walking by it one day I noticed it had gotten scratched and some of the paint had come off. I’d forgotten to seal it properly. In fixing it I started to play and play and play. That was about 5 months ago of revisiting it now and again when the mood struck. This has been a fun journey! It’s finished/sealed and being set free now!

my heart slips out of
itself and flits so high up

bunched up in the corner wearing masks
they’re all singing the blues
i’ve tried to convince them to come out and play
saturdays I like to post
but they just cower….they won’t come out!

the hose water is their orchestra and i, their conductor
a splish, a splash and up they swirl by the hundreds
tiny helicopters surround me with perfectly pointed toes
silently, gracefully they ever so slowly sway and create huge weavings around
through and sometimes lovingly into one another and me
as the sun works the spotlight on
our brilliant blue stage
