Just after I titled this, one my absolutely favorite Prince songs popped into my head. The word “lunchbox” brought it up…and man…it seems to SO go with this painting!!!

It was 7:45 we were all in line

To greet the teacher Miss Kathleen

First was Kevin, then came Lucy, third in line was me

All of us were ordinary compared to Cynthia Rose

She always stood at the back of the line

A smile beneath her nose

Her favorite number was 20, and every single day

If U asked her what she had 4 breakfast

This is what she’d say

Starfish and coffee

Maple syrup and jam

Butterscotch clouds, a tangerine

And a side order of ham

If U set your mind free, baby

Maybe you’d understand

Starfish and coffee

Maple syrup and jam

Cynthia wore the prettiest dress

With different coloured socks

Sometimes I wondered if the mates were in her lunchbox

Me and Lucy opened it when Cynthia wasn’t around

Lucy cried, I almost died, u know what we found?

Cynthia had a happy face, just like the one she’d draw

On every wall, in every school

    Oh Katy, what a delight you are sending such beautiful art and the “funnest” song ever by Prince. I missed that one in the 80’s but will be putting it on my playlist now. It will become my new “motto“ for my “funky” days. ⭐️- ☕️-🍯-🧈🌤-🍊-🥓😍🥰🤩🤗 ❤️🧡💛💚💙

      Thank You, Ishita!!! That’s so lovely and it does make sense! That’s actually where I was when I painted it. The poem I was going to write was something like “the part of me that knows there could actually be lemonade seas and key lime sunshine knows the same part of You….we share a lunchbox….”, etc. 🤣And yes!
