For those of You who may not be familiar with brilliant Mark Twain’s ‘The Adventure’s of Tom Sawyer’; there’s a wonderful scene in the book where Tom gets in trouble for playing hooky from school. As a punishment his Aunt Polly makes him whitewash the fence. He hates the chore and decides to convince his friends that it’s a great honour and privilege to be given such a responsibility. He ends up charging them money to paint the fence for him! It’s pretty funny!
When my beautiful man brought me this fantastic piece of wood to paint….that story came to mind straightaway. This is what I imagine might have happened had Tom’s friends figured out his con and spotted him off fishing as they worked. I truly don’t remember what he did while they did his chore-apart from collecting the money and feeling pretty amazing about the whole thing; but I sent him off fishing. “Becky” is Becky Thatcher, a young beauty who captured Tom’s heart the moment he saw her and was his first kiss.
