Happy Saturday Beautiful People!!!

I finished reading a book called ‘The Snow Child’, by Eowyn Ivey, a few days ago and it absolutely haunts me in the sweetest of ways. When I sat down to draw today’s post….this just came out. It’s a BRILLIANT book that was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, and truly one of the most beautiful stories I’ve ever read. So if You’re looking for something to read….I’m just sayin’!!!

I hope You All have a wonderful weekend! Cheers!!!

  2. Such a wonderful painting♥️♥️ I love it💗
Thanks a lot for recommending the book!!
You know what, this painting reminded of something. There is a very famous legend(actually a sanskrit epic) in Hinduism. And there is a particular off-story in it. There is a princess of a kingdom, whose marriage is very near. One day she gets a boon from a sage that if she calls upon any if the (minor) gods, they’ll bless us her with a child. She doesn’t really believe it will happen, and because she’s still immature she chants the verse for calling upon the gods, and she is blessed with a child. She obviously becomes very afraid and worried as what will happen if someone gets to know she has a child, so she puts the baby in a cot and lets it flow in a river(this child actually survives; becomes a major part of the story). But she is so distraught of course! She feels very bad. This painting reminded me of that.

Sending lots of love and hugs ♥️♥️♥️

    1. OH WOW!!! Thank You for so very much for sharing that story, Ishita! It’s wonderful!!! I can completely see why she reminded You of that. Which sanskrit epic is it from? And I’m sending lots of Love and hugs right back!!! 🤗❤️😊

      1. Most welcome dear💗💗
The epic is called “Mahabharat”. Very interesting story, and sometimes really confusing too😂 In fact, a part of it, “The Bhagwad Gita” is actually the holy book of Hinduism!

        1. Oh yes!!! I bought a 12 volume, wonderfully illustrated comic book of “Mahabharat” at a Vedanta Temple many, many years ago and read it a few times! I don’t remember that part of the story though….I’ve always intended to make an effort to read the full length, true version someday. I’m 56 now though so I better hunker down if I’m doing to do it! 😅 And I love “The Bhagwad Gita”! I have that by my bed and have read it a couple of times….I have been wanting to read that again as well. It is soooo very beautiful. If I ever do get around to reading “Mahabharat”, I will think of You and smile when I come to that part of the story!!! Thank You for the info and reminders!!! ❤️🤗🌀😊💕

          1. Oh wow that’s wonderful!! Oh, that’s strange. Maybe if I tell you the names of the characters, it would make sense. The woman was Kunti and the child was Karna. It is a very difficult task to read the entire mahabharat! It is so vast, but really interesting. I know most of the things from TV series(many series have been made on it!) or from my parents 😁
That’s so sweet. Whenever I see or read that incident anywhere, I’ll be reminded of your beautiful painting and you ♥️💞

            1. Yes! The names Kunti and Karna are familiar! That particular story embarrassingly still eludes me, though. It was 25 years ago that I read it! 😅 But I remember other isolated events very clearly! And yes!!! I’ve heard that reading the Mahabharat is a life’s work! I actually tried to watch a TV series on it at one point! Can’t remember why I didn’t follow through! And wow! That is very sweet! I love that You will think of me as well whenever that story comes up! You just gifted a HUGE smile! Thank You, Beautiful Ishita!!! Huge hugs Your way!!! ❤️❤️❤️

  3. She’s positively not dressed for the occasion (winter that is), but I need to read the book first. 🙂 However, your painting is suffused with tranquility so I reckon the novel has a happy ending. Will spring come for the child in question? In any case, I absolutely love the fact that reading inspires you. I get all this images while I read as well, but I lack the ability to express them in painting.

    1. Isn’t that the best, Jo?!!! I love how the images flow and flow when we read a wonderful book. It’s like the film is playing in my head while I’m reading and I’m just watching. Is it like that for You as well?!! And I can’t tell You if the snow harms her or if there’s a happy ending…gosh…I could say it’s a crazy beautiful, bittersweet ending….just like life. No clean lines cut….it’s wonderful! Are You thinking of reading it? If You do, I’d love to hear what You think! I think You’ll love it!!! 🤗❤️😊

      1. Yes, I like to imagine the characters I like, but it’s only a fleeting thought. It’s not like I can draw them. 🙂 As for the novel, if you recommend it so warmly I’m curious, but I need to find the book first. That could be a challenge.
